Wessex Piano Day

Saturday, March 17, 2018 - 00:00
Summary Description

A very successful piano day was spent earlier in 2017, so here is another one.  Do please encourage your students to come along.  If they are a little shy about performing, suggest they come along to listen, and then hopefully it will encourage them to take part next time.

We welcome our guest teacher, Sharon Gould to be our guest teacher for the day.

Sharon Gould has been giving solo recitals and conducting orchestras since the age of 14. This enterprising start led to an invitation to be the first music student at Churchill College, Cambridge, from where she founded and directed 'The Vivaldi Players'. After University days, these young musicians went on to give regular concerts together in London and the UK.

Sharon's solo harpsichord and concerto career has since taken her across Europe and America, and has included numerous recordings for TV, radio and disc. She has been on the piano, harpsichord and chamber music teaching staff of the RCM Junior Department, Chetham's Music School and the RNCM in Manchester.

She is an examiner, trainer and moderator for ABRSM, and is one of the authors of the ABRSM book 'Teaching Notes on Piano Exam Pieces'.

Piano chamber music partnerships have included her duo with flautist Neil McLaren and much-treasured opportunities to give recitals with singers and in piano trios. As a soprano, Sharon is a member of the Salisbury Cathedral Chamber Choir and the six-voice singing group 'Skylarks'.
