ULSTER SOCIETY OF ORGANISTS AND CHOIRMASTERS in association with EPTA Belfast
with Malcolm Proud, Yo Tomita and David Stevens
This event will explore performance-practice issues in the keyboard music of J. S. Bach with reference to performance on piano, harpsichord and chamber organ. It will include a presentation on compositional processes by the distinguished Bach scholar, Professor Yo Tomita. Consideration will then be given to approaches to performance on the different instruments, focusing on the Fugue in E major from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2. A clavichord will also be made available. The morning session will conclude with a round table in which the panel will address questions/topics raised by members of USOC and EPTA.
The afternoon session will be devoted to a workshop for pianists and organists and this will be conducted by Malcolm Proud, known internationally as a harpsichordist and organist.
Please note that questions/topics for the round table should be submitted by 10th February to either Michael Tregenna, Hon Secretary USOC, at firstname.lastname@example.org or John McParland, EPTA Belfast, at email@example.com.
