Passionate about piano playing, Lucinda Mackworth-Young is an international lecturer and pianist who helps teachers understand what, and how, pupils want to learn, and helps everyone overcome performance anxiety.
Aiming, also, to enable everyone to play spontaneously, without books, at home, in schools or social settings (and say “Yes!” when asked to play Happy Birthday!), she has developed a wealth of immediately accessible and musically satisfying material which has recently been published by Faber Music in Piano by Ear.
Director of the UK’s leading Piano Teachers’ Course www.pianoteacherscourse.org, Lucinda also provides professional development for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, the Incorporated Society of Musicians and In-Service Teacher Training.
Her first book: Tuning In, Practical Psychology for Musicians, came out in 2000 and she has also had many chapters and articles published by Rhinegold, ABRSM, ISM, EPTA and American Music Teacher.
