Mark Tanner is a concert pianist, composer, adjudicator, teacher and writer. His performing and academic work takes him regularly to all five continents. Solo appearances include many recitals at London’s Wigmore Hall, South Bank Centre and St John’s Smith Square. He appears regularly on luxury cruise liners such as the Queen Mary 2, having given more than 300 recitals. Mark’s recordings, which spotlight many previously unrecorded works, have received widespread critical acclaim: “Magnificent playing”, Gramophone.
Mark has published sixty volumes of compositions for Edition Peters and Spartan Press. He has twenty pieces on current examination syllabuses, and his ‘Pianoscapes’ series was shortlisted for the Best Print Resource Award at the 2015 Music Teacher Awards for Excellence. Mark was recently Guest Editor of EPTA’s Piano Professional and is co-author of ABRSM’s Teaching Notes 2017-18. His ‘Masterclass’ articles continue to be enjoyed in Pianist Magazine.
Mark teaches at Chetham’s International Piano Summer School. For ABRSM he is an examiner, trainer and international presenter, having undertaken 30 tours to all five continents. This year, Mark will be adjudicating the Singapore Festival of Performing Arts and EPTA Composer’s Competition.
