Member Biography
From her earliest concerts at the Royal Brussels Conservatoire to her Carnegie Hall debut, Yulia always yearned to be on stage, immersing herself in the sounds of the instrument and communicating with audiences through music. She started performing internationally after winning 1st prize at the Steinway Piano Competition in Hamburg at age 13, and has since played across ten European countries, Taiwan and the United States, with recitals in venues including St Martin-in-the-Fields and King’s Place in London, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and the Luxembourg Philharmonie.
A passionate chamber musician, Yulia has collaborated with outstanding musicians, including performing Brahms’ Horn Trio alongside Peter Cropper and residencies at Britten Pears and the Tunnell Trust with her former ensemble Trio Mise-en-Scène. Yulia enjoys a close duo partnership with pianist Chiahu Lee. Their debut album ‘(ré)inventions à deux pianos’ (Divine Art, 2024) received glowing reviews on BBC Radio 3, BBC Music Magazine and American Record Guide. Their second album ‘cantatas (re)mixed for four hands’ is due for release with First Inversion on the 9th October 2026.
Yulia obtained her Masters of Music with distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2017, where she studied under the tutelage of Richard Ormrod. She combines her performing career with teaching and mentoring. Yulia served on the piano faculty at Luxembourg Conservatoire for five years and now teaches piano on the Junior Department’s music course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
