Cambridge Suzuki Training
run by EPTA member, Jenny Macmillan

Are you enthusiastic, keen to broaden your horizons, fascinated by different ways of teaching, eager to learn more about different approaches, and attracted by the idea of further training? If so, you may be interested in joining Cambridge Suzuki Training to learn about teaching the piano. There is a huge shortage of trained Suzuki teachers. For those who love music, love teaching, and love working with children, teaching by the Suzuki approach is a tremendously rewarding activity. Cambridge Suzuki Training (CST) takes place online monthly on Sundays with week-long courses in my studio in Cambridge at Easter and in the summer.

  • When? Online, Monthly on Sundays: 7 September, 5 October, 2 November, 23 November, 11 January, 1 February, 1 March, 10 May, 7 June; week-long courses at Easter and in summer.
  • Where? Sundays online; week-long courses in studio in Cambridge

Applications may be made throughout the year. Observers are always welcome!

  • Sessions on Suzuki philosophy and pedagogy
  • Individual lessons for each trainee on technique and repertoire
  • Discussion of teaching points through the repertoire
  • Guidance while trainees teach each other and teach children
  • Discussions on how to encourage parents to support their children’s musical studies
  • Access to extensive library of online resources, including training videos

Guest tutors who have taught on the course include Penelope Roskell, Paul Harris, Sally Cathcart, Michael Griffin, Caroline Fraser, Marzena Siudzinska-Jasinska, Caroline Gowers, Sue Bird, Kristinn Orn Kristinnson, Veronique Perrin, Graham Rix
