Hit the Right Note: Starting Your Own Music Studio (Student and Young Professionals Webinar)
*This webinar is the first in a four-part series curated specifically for students and young professionals.
Are you thinking about starting your own music studio? Perhaps you’re a music teacher ready to take the next step and establish your own space, but you’re unsure where to begin. Whether you need advice on renting a suitable venue, setting fair lesson fees, creating contracts, or attracting new students, this session will offer valuable insights into every stage of the journey.
Bethan Scolding, founder of Greenwich Music School, will lead this discussion and share her experience of building and managing a successful music education hub. She’ll be joined by our panel of music teachers — Anna McWatters, Talia Girton, and Inês Costa — who will offer their perspectives and practical advice from across the sector.
Together, the panel will explore key considerations for running your own studio, including:
- Understanding your right to work and legal responsibilities as a self-employed music teacher
- Safeguarding policies and best practice for working with children and vulnerable adults
- Navigating GDPR and data protection requirements
- Marketing your studio and building a strong local reputation
- Managing finances, contracts, and student communication effectively
You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and gain tailored advice from professionals who have first-hand experience in establishing and running their own studios.
