The Practice Collective: Rebuilding Your Musical Life Alongside Everything Else (Balder Neergaard)Most classically trained pianists reach a point where their own practice quietly moves to the margins — not from lack of commitment, but because teaching, performing, and the demands of a full professional life gradually take over. The practice is still there, but it has become isolated and directionless. This session draws on the work of The Piano Practice Collective to explore what it takes to rebuild a consistent and artistically meaningful practice alongside a complex professional life. Moving through four stages — from navigating daily constraints to developing a long-term artistic vision — it offers a framework for pianists who are ready to take their own playing seriously again. The session will be conversational and interactive rather than lecture-based.
