Genevieve Frost - Teacher Profile

About Me
Originally from Dorset, I have been teaching piano for the last 5 years in my home studio and in several schools across Mid Devon where I settled after studying Music at Exeter University.  Prior to becoming a piano teacher, I gained extensive experience in coaching, mentoring and performance management through various management roles over 15 years working in both the public and private sector.  I am currently studying for my DipABRSM teaching diploma.  I currently teach almost 30 pupils, including my own children.     I follow a teaching framework that gradually introduces new musical concepts and instrumental skills.  I teach primarily classical, jazz and popular music.  In order to create well-rounded musicianship skills, I try to incorporate theory, improvisation, technique, notation and aural development into lessons, using age appropriate ‘play’ to reinforce concepts in enjoyable ways.  It is important to me that lessons are fun and I hope to share my lifelong passion for music making with my students. For the last 18 years, I have been performing with the Exeter Music Group Symphony Orchestra, now known as the Devon Philharmonic Orchestra, a very large high calibre amateur symphony orchestra in the South West.  I have experience playing in string quartets and as a pianist for weddings and corporate events and have accompanied ballet classes and students for exams and recitals.
