About Me
Jenny has taught piano privately since her mid-20s. She has a thriving teaching practice of about 20 pupils aged between about three and 16, many pupils then moving to the junior departments of the London music colleges. Jenny teaches according to the Suzuki approach, and is a European Suzuki Association qualified teacher trainer. She directs a Suzuki piano teacher training course in Cambridge, and has contributed to training courses and workshops in Norway, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands as well as the UK. Since completing a masters degree in Psychology for Musicians at Sheffield University, Jenny has written extensively about music education. Her acclaimed book, Successful Practising: A handbook for pupils, parents and music teachers, has been reprinted. For ten years she was regional organiser of EPTA Cambs. Her website, www.jennymacmillan.co.uk, includes videoed tutorials on teaching early repertoire, as well as many articles on practising, on the Suzuki approach, and on other aspects of music education.
