About Organiser
After studying privately with Florence Creighton and Justin Connolly, and with John Bigg at the Royal Academy of Music, London, UK, Fred has been professionally active as pianist, composer since 1981. Having coached many young artists from beginner to diploma level his students have won prizes and awards nationally and been awarded Scholarships to prestigious South London schools and have performed at Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Royal Albert Hall, Barbican, Royal Opera House, Fairfield Halls. He runs a private teaching practice in South London, is Director of Soundpractice Music and former Head of Keyboard for Croydon Music and Arts. He is a licensed piano teacher for the Borough of Bromley and co-founder (with Lora Dimitrova-Watson) of the Summer International Piano and Composition School. He was previously appointed Artistic Associate, Music Education – Fairfield Halls. Fred is pursuing his PhD at City, University of London, on Ferruccio Busoni’s opera Doktor Faust. He is co-convenor of the Busoni Symposium – Busoni and his World, City, University of London, July 15-17 2024 He also guest lectures there on Music History, Materials of Tonal Music and Forensic Musicology. He is contributing author to and recorded music examples for Musics with and after Tonality – Mining the Gap (Ed. Dr Paul Fleet, Newcastle) Routledge, 2021.
