About Me
Yukie Smith (née Sunahata) studied piano performance at Tokyo College of Music and Indiana University School of Music. She now lives near Cambridge where she performs concerts and teaches piano to students of all ages using her own multi-sensory learning technique. She also spends time composing piano music and collaborating with independent musicians and artists. Some of her most popular outputs include: a piano duet arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (Goodmusic Publishing); a full version of a violin & piano arrangement of Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango (Bèrben Edizioni Musicali); piano solo arrangements of Joni Mitchel's Both Sides Now and A Case of You (see Joni Mitchel's Official Website); a piano solo arrangement of Kathryn Tickell's The Return. Yukie is also a member of European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) and recently had published an educational article on the use of her own compositions, ‘Boogie-Woogie Etudes’ for student learning (Piano Professional, issue 34).
