About Me
My students are aged 6 to “none of my business”, and we enjoy an informal learning environment with music at its centre. I like to encourage creativity in all areas of the lesson. I feel that it is important to link music theory to its practical application, and to learn how to listen to music and gain something from it. When appropriate I enter them for ABRSM classical, jazz, practical musicianship and theory exams. I am a member of Curious Piano Teachers, which gives me the opportunity to develop as a teacher and to examine both learning and teaching styles. I have a particular interest in composition, as I have been composing piano music and songs for as long as I can remember. My main goal is to help musicians to grow and make the most of their particular strengths. I hope I can help them to develop a self-discipline and love of learning that stays with them for life.
