Teacher Profile
About Me
My students are aged 6 to “none of my business”, and we enjoy an informal learning environment with music at its centre. I like to encourage creativity in all areas of the lesson. I feel that it is important to link music theory to its practical application, and to learn how to listen to music and gain something from it. We do charity concerts to give students the opportunity to perform in public, and when appropriate I enter them for ABRSM classical, jazz, practical musicianship and theory exams. I am a member of Curious Piano Teachers, which gives me the opportunity to develop as a teacher and to examine both learning and teaching styles. I have a particular interest in composition, as I have been composing piano music and songs for as long as I can remember. My main goal is to help musicians to grow and make the most of their particular strengths. I hope I can help them to develop a self-discipline and love of learning that stays with them for life.
