Teacher Profile
About Me
Katharine Richman studied piano, organ and viola as a child, going on to read music at Selwyn College, Cambridge and the University of London Institute of Education. She now works as a freelance musician, dividing her time between examining for ABRSM, teaching piano to students of all ages, and devising and directing residential music courses. Singing has always been a part of her life and she joined The Bach Choir as a student in 1984, since when she has volunteered in various capacities including as webmaster and programme editor, before becoming Chair in April 2016, the first woman to hold the post in the Choir’s 140-year history. Katharine has been editor of the widely respected Delius Society Journal for a number of years, combining a love of the music of Delius with a love of writing. She also enjoys travelling and, before the pandemic, spent time working for ABRSM in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
