An afternoon with Jill Morton
The Impressionism of Claude Debussy & friends
The wonderful Jill Morton will visit our EPTA Derby/Nottingham piano group with an insight into Debussy’s sound world.
Well-known to us through her wonderful recordings of ABRSM pieces through the grades which have reached almost 4.000.000 (that’s four million!) views we are in for a real treat this afternoon!
Touching on several pieces from this beautiful era Jill will explore how to approach the playing and teaching of these pieces. True to her inimitable style she will be at the piano demonstrating and creating that characteristic sound world for us. She will be inspiring us to try a journey into this soundscape ourselves (if we haven’t done so already – but no-one will be asked to play unprepared, don’t worry!) and how to guide our pupils.
There will be one or two pupils (tbc) for Jill to teach which will be fascinating to observe. Please let Sue susangrange@hotmail.com or Beate beatetoyka1@gmail.com know asap if you are interested. Payment by BACS by the 1st of November will secure your place, only max 20 seats available! Tea and biscuits in the break are included in the price!
