CSYM Suzuki Piano and Chamber Music Summer School Open Day.
This will take place on July 31st at West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge, UK, from 12.00 PM, until approximately 6.00PM. The last day of a 4-day course for students between the ages of 3 and 17.
The aim of the Open Day is to introduce piano teachers, and Conservatoire and University students, to our programme, and in particular the element of early childhood education. Alongside that will be, at Intermediate and advanced levels Chamber music for piano and various trying instruments disciplines, and Art Song accompaniment, and composition, which are unique to CSYM.
The Suzuki piano side of this is led by European Suzuki Association teacher trainer Stephen Power, and Graduate from Dr.Suzuki’s school in Japan, Betty Power.
With us for Chamber music, and a world premier of a 10 minute long piece for 4 grand pianos will be Graham Fitkin.  Our staff Henrietta Hill (viola), Rose Hinton (violin), and Andrew Power (cello), will play alongside the students, and Soprano Hannah Diennes-Williams will be accompanied by the students on a wide variety of Art Song performance.
The cost for observing tonight this last day of the Summer School is £30. It is free to Conservatoire Students at Undergraduate or Masters level, who might want to include piano teaching as part of their portfolio, or a central plank to their career allowing them to discover our version of the Suzuki Approach. I am particularly interested in mentoring piano teachers at that stage of their career, who would like to work with children from 3 years old onwards, at the crucial beginning stages, and who are looking to improve their teaching skills.
There will be a brief talk about the teacher training course I run, which leads to qualified teacher training status under the ESA, alongside concerts, and talks.
Attendance can only be booked in advance. Contact: info@suzukipianocambridge.org.uk to book a place. Please say something about yourself and your musical background, and teaching experience.
