About Me
Kat is a pianist with training at the National Conservatoire in Athens where she graduated from with distinction and further private studies with Prof. Christopher Elton. Kat has completed a Masters’ in Piano Performance at Goldsmiths (University of London) under Andrew Zolinsky’s tutelage, and holds a FRSM in Piano Performance (ABRSM). Kat is active as pianist, songwriter -with funding from Arts Council England- and piano tutor. In November 2012 Kat participated in the Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition organised by the Beethoven Society of Europe. In the summer of 2016, Kat was shortlisted to audition for the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s prestigious Future Firsts development scheme as orchestral pianist. During 2012/2013, she was principal pianist at Goldsmiths’ Contemporary Music Ensemble with whom she made her debut at Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room in May 2013 performing John White’s Piano Sonata (arr. Ian Gardiner). Kat has taken part in masterclasses given by Andrei Gavrilov, Dmitri Alexeev, France Clidat, Artur Pizzaro and Stephen Kovacevich at Dartington Summer School with a bursary provided by Dartington Hall Trust. She is currently being coached by Alicja Fiderkiewicz. In addition, Kat has performed at London Fashion Week (for Erdem’s catwalk show), had her songs broadcast on BBC (Radio 3 and World Service) and made her European debut at Conservatorium van Amsterdam. in the summer of 2014 she performed at LSO St Luke’s as part of the Soundhub’s series premiering an ensemble piece written by resident composer Helen Papaioannou. Most recently she was the pianist for ‘Calculated to Death’, a contemporary opera composed by S. Laskowski which premiered at Tete a Tete opera festival in two sold-out shows. Kat has been kindly supported by Goldsmith College’s International Student Fund and acknowledges further sponsorship via the P. and M. Lovell Trust. She also holds a BSc in International Economics and Politics from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a MSc in Management from the London School of Economics. She remains committed to enhancing her teaching portfolio by frequently participating in conferences, seminars and workshops on music education and teaching methodologies (recent seminars attended focused on Alexander Technique, posture and injuries sustained by musicians, Kodaly system and tuition for pre-schoolers, Bach authentic performance, dyslexia & learning difficulties etc). Kat has a proven track record of 100% success in ABRSM graded exam exams with the majority of her students achieving merits and distinctions; she is the founder and director of East London Piano and a Principal/Franchisee for Little Voices in Hackney.
