About Me
Born in 1953, Alan started on piano aged six studying with Cecil Cooke. Alan’s main musical education came from a career in Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Band Service where he studied cornet and piano at its School of Music under the tutelage of music professors Frank Boyden and Ross Anderson respectively. On graduating, he progressed to the service’s senior staff bands.
Alan moved back to his native Guernsey where he continued to play semi-professionally which has seen him playing a variety of musical genres from classical to jazz and with small ensembles to larger ones. He has also directed a variety of ensembles from the orchestra pit to the concert stage.
Now retired from the finance industry, Alan is expanding his teaching, arranging composing and conducting roles. Most recently he has been appointed Musical Director of Guernsey Concert Brass.
Alan teaches piano and brass.
