About Organiser
Christopher Guild is a performer, recording artist and teacher living in Gloucestershire. He attended St Mary’s Music School (2000-05), where he studied piano with Margaret Wakeford, and later at the Royal College of Music (2005-11) as a Foundation Scholar, with Andrew Ball. His professional career was launched as a postgraduate student when he became a Park Lane Group Artist and a Countess of Munster Musical Trust Recital Scheme Artist, under whose auspices he performed as concerto soloist, recitalist and collaborative pianist across the UK; he also freelanced as orchestral keyboardist with the LPO. In 2013 his first solo recording, of Scottish composer Ronald Center’s (1913-1973) piano music, was released by Toccata Classics; he has continued to specialise in the music of Scotland and the rest of the British Isles, particularly of the composers Ronald Stevenson (1928-2015), Bernard van Dieren (1887-1936), David Johnson (1942-2004) and others. Christopher has taught piano and KS3 music in a variety of settings, mostly within the independent school sector: recent positions as a VMT include Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Dean Close (Cheltenham), Millfield, Reigate Grammar School, Salisbury Cathedral School, Godolphin, and as a teacher of Piano, Musicianship and Advanced Theory at Junior Trinity (Trinity Laban, London). He is now Head of Keyboard at the King’s School, Gloucester, and continues as a VMT at Solihull School (West Midlands).
