Teacher Profile
About Me
Laura studied classical piano under the tutelage of Beryl Chempin
at her home in Moseley, Birmingham in conjunction with
Birmingham Conservatoire. During her studies, Laura achieved
high distinctions in Grades 1-8 ABRSM piano and proceeded to
study music further at Birmingham Conservatoire and Abbey
College after being awarded a scholarship. Laura began performing
as a solo pianist in her teen years under Beryl’s direction and
played numerous recitals and competitions including famous
works by Beethoven, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Chopin and many
more.
Alongside the piano, Laura studied classical singing with Alison
Stevens (neé Chamberlain) and achieved grades 1-7 ABRSM. Her
singing performing career began at the young age of three where
Laura sang with Bournville Children’s Choir. This quickly led
to Laura’s acceptance to the CBSO Children’s and Senior Youth
Choruses. During this time, Laura also sang with the National
Youth Training Choir of Great Britain. Much valuable experience
was gained from this early exposure, including many tours around
Europe and the privilege of working with some of the world’s best
artists. A keen teacher too, Laura has continued putting her talents
to good use over the past two decades, in both private tutoring
and accompanying musical events for schools in her home county,
Worcestershire.
Laura is the founder of Worcester’s top-rated music school, LP Music Tuition, and teaches piano and singing full-time alongside her small team of fantastic teachers.
