“Once you’re aged 76, everyone thinks you need slippers, Horlicks, early nights, and days being grumpy in the pub. I need musicians. Real ones who understand that when you’re in the zone, you don’t make music: it runs through you, like breathing.
At school I was the ‘Skool Pianist’ (Molesworth readers will remember). Half a century in property followed (Groan). Now I’m living and breathing music again. Fifty years of bad playing habits aren’t hard to shift with the expert help at York University.
Well….. actually some habits are a sod. A Masters in Piano Performance is underway, and I love keeping learning, being on the moors, the company of fellow musicians, and of course the music. What more is there to say? (All right, I can be grumpy….)” Adrian Johnson
Adrian studies under Fred Viner and EPTA UK Trustee, Prof. Jakob Fichert and is currently studying a two year part-time MA in Piano Performance at York.
Congratulations, Adrian!
