At the age of ten, Summer Oliver is establishing herself as one of Lincolnshire’s most promising young pianists. She has achieved significant success in competitions and received performance invitations. Her musical journey is only just beginning.
Summer’s passion for the piano began at an early age. She explored her grandparents’ piano and a keyboard her parents had received. She began private lessons at the age of four and continued her studies with Music Tutor Ltd in Lincoln. She now studies with Ekatherina Waterfield BMus, MEd, MISM RPT.
A pupil at Nettleham Junior School, Summer has a strong desire to perform. She was recently a winner of her school’s talent show, which earned her an invitation to perform at the Nettleham Village Carnival.
Summer is dedicated and enthusiastic, particularly enjoying performing classical repertoire by composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Debussy. She also learns pop songs by ear. She achieved a Distinction in her previous ABRSM examination and is currently preparing for her ABRSM Performance Grade 3.
Since 2025 Summer has achieved considerable competition success. She won First Prize in the Preparatory Class at the 2025 EPTA UK Piano Competition (East Midlands) and First Prize in the Grade 2–3 Piano Solo Class at the Derby Arts Festival 2026.
These achievements led to an invitation to perform at the Derby Music Festival Winners’ Concert in May 2026 an honour reserved for selected prize winners. She is also a regular participant in the Lincolnshire Music Festival and performs in her teacher’s annual pupils’ recitals at the Lincoln Bishop University Chapel.
Summer’s musical curiosity determination and growing confidence on stage continue to impress audiences and adjudicators alike. As she embraces new challenges and opportunities she is undoubtedly a young pianist to watch. We are delighted to recognise Summer as our Pianist of the Month and look forward to following her musical journey in the years ahead.
