EPTA UK announces today the appointment of Penelope Roskell as Chair of our organisation.
Penelope has been a committed member of EPTA for forty years. She has been actively involved in conferences, webinars and the EPTA competition and she was Director of the EPTA Piano Pedagogy course for several years. Her renowned book The Complete Pianist began as a series of articles for Piano Professional magazine.
Penelope is interested in all aspects of piano teaching, for all levels and ages. At Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, in addition to one-to-one teaching, she teaches the piano pedagogy course, which keeps her abreast of all the recent developments in piano teaching. She is currently engaged in writing technique books for beginners and intermediates (the Essential Piano Technique series). As a specialist in working with pianists with injuries, she is passionate about promoting injury-preventive piano technique.
Penelope says ‘I am delighted and honoured to be appointed Chair of EPTA UK. This is an exciting time for EPTA and I look forward to working with the wonderful trustees, helping to foster a strong and supportive teaching community, to welcome new members and to promote excellent teaching within the profession. I look forward to meeting members at events over the years to come.’
